Question
My 9 year old mixed breed is very poorly. He is drinking
a lot and peeing a lot. Just lately, when he pees, blood is coming
out with it and it really stinks. I cannot afford a vet as I am
on benefits and have no money.

Hi
Kevin,
Unfortunately
your situation is not unique. As vets we regularly come across people
who struggle with the costs of caring for their pet, but there are
ways to seek veterinary help. In your case you need to do this urgently.
If
you are on benefits you will almost certainly be eligible for free
veterinary treatment by the PDSA. You don’t say where in Warwickshire
you live, but PDSA have practices in Coventry, Nuneaton and Rugby.
Visit their website for more information www.pdsa.org.uk
It
is absolutely vital that you get your dog to the vets as soon as
possible. He is suffering and he needs urgent veterinary treatment.
If
for some reason you can’t get your dog to the PDSA clinic,
I would recommend approaching your local vet and explaining the
situation. They may be able to come to some sort of arrangement
with you to provide your dog with essential treatment.
Kind regards,
Susie Samuel MA VetMB MRCVS www.vethelpdirect.com
