Question
We took our new puppy to the low cost clinic for his second
shot. Last night I was rubbing his back and felt a bubble down from
his neck. Could that be from the shot?

Hi
Jeff,
You don’t say exactly when your puppy
had its shot. It is very common to feel a small ‘bubble’
for a few days after a vaccination. In some cases this can last
for a longer period of time and occasionally it can become slightly
harder. It is caused initially by the fluid from the injection and
then from the puppy’s inflammatory response to it. This is
normal and is your puppy’s immune system responding as it
should to the vaccine.
If
the ‘bubble’ is painful you should take your puppy to
the vets immediately. If the ‘bubble’ is small and not
painful and your puppy is normal, well and happy in every other
way I would give it two or three days from the time of the injection
for it to go down. If it is still there after this time you should
take your puppy back to your vets for a check up.
Kind regards,
