New Lobby Group - Dog Theft Action
Dog Theft Action DTA

The UK's leading missing dog organisation www.doglost.co.uk has launched a pressure group called Dog Theft Action (DTA) whose aim is to draw attention to dog theft in the UK and to lobby the government to take dog theft seriously.

DTA says it will “try to bring together the many agencies - the police, dog wardens, RSPCA, local authorities, rescue centres and sanctuaries who are involved in the process of reuniting dogs and owners.” Their aim is to encourage these bodies to collate and share information about missing and found dogs.

Peter Purves, advisor to the DTA, says “I have been approached by a group called Dog Theft Action which has been set up in the hope that there can be a national register, co-ordinated and operated by all police forces and dog rescue centres, to ensure that there is a better chance of re-uniting lost dogs with their owners than there is at the moment.”

How can you help?

Spread the word about DTA and check www.doglost.co.uk regularly for dogs missing or found in your area.

Be vigilant! If a dog suddenly appears in your neighbourhood and you are concerned/suspicious about its origins, contact www.doglost.co.uk.

Get involved with the initiatives published on the website such as writing to your MP, putting up posters of missing dogs in your area, collecting signatures for the petition or signing the online petition.

For more information about Dog Theft Action (DTA) visit www.dogtheftaction.co.uk

You can download a petition sheet, print it off and distribute it or you can sign the online petition by clicking here.

Dog Theft Action - “Our aim is to get as many signatures as possible throughout the UK and to present this to the authorities - we need to make the police take this crime seriously!”
