Dogs Trust Freedom Project
We recently received the following appeal from Rosanna Boylan (Dogs Trust Freedom Project Co-ordinator, London).

Would you or anyone you know be able to foster a dog on behalf of a family fleeing domestic violence?

- Do you have experience of looking after a dog?
- Are you at home during the day?
- Could you commit to looking after a dog for six months if needed?

Dogs Trust Freedom Project

Dogs Trust Freedom Project is a dog fostering service available to women fleeing domestic violence in the Greater London and Yorkshire areas. Sadly in homes where there is domestic violence pets may also suffer. Understandably, many women fleeing domestic violence don’t want to leave their pets behind, but are unable to take them with them into a refuge or temporary accommodation.

Dogs Trust Freedom Project helps families fleeing domestic violence by temporarily placing their dogs with volunteer foster carers who care for them in their own home until their owners are able to have them back.

We are recruiting foster carers now for this worthwhile project

Becoming a foster carer is a hugely rewarding and challenging experience. During the foster placement foster carers are fully supported and all costs, such as pet food and veterinary treatment, are covered by Dogs Trust.

Please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/wayswehelp/freedom_project/ to find out more.

Other ways you can help

We are also looking for volunteers to distribute recruitment flyers in your area. If you have time to help us recruit foster carers then please send us an email to leaflets@dogstrust.org.uk with your full contact details and we will be in touch.

Thank you.
