Mutts Marvellous Makeover
Dogs Trust
Abandoned dog scrubs up well and finds new family

Poor Matterson arrived at Dog’s Trust Leeds in March from the local stray kennels. He was aptly named because he looked like a walking mat; in fact it was difficult to tell one end from the other!

Amanda Sands, Manager of Dogs Trust Leeds explains:

“Matterson had obviously suffered many years of neglect and his coat was in such an appalling condition that it took two members of staff, a vet nurse and a general anaesthetic to remove all the knots. However despite feeling very uncomfortable he remained a very happy and friendly boy.”

Several hours after his miraculous makeover begun, an unusual looking but very handsome boy emerged and his cheeky character began to shine through. Following his amazing hair cut, Matterson caught the attention of Derry Priestley who was visiting Dogs Trust with a friend. He has now been at home with Derry for over a month and she has clearly found her soul mate.

Derry says:

“I fell in love with Matterson immediately. He was odd looking but adorable! He loves running through the fields when I take him out for walks - he’s very popular and has made lots of doggy friends. I can’t imagine not having him around now.”

Dogs Trust Leeds takes in stray and abandoned dogs from all over Yorkshire. At any one time they care for around 100 dogs in a state-of-the-art Rehoming Centre located between Leeds and York. Anyone interested in rehoming one of their canine residents should contact the centre on 01132 814920.
