My Little Mam and Me

We've grown old together, my little Mam and me,
It's many years since first I jumped upon her knee,
She calls me her own little teddy bear .....
I reach up and kiss her and pull her hair.

She says that when I leave her, she'll surely break her heart,
And can't imagine how she'll go on when we have to part.
But I tell her when she follows me, be it early or late,
She'll find me waiting .... sitting there beside the gate.

Once more we'll walk together without tears or pain,
And I'll be her own little bonny lad again.
