As the Wag & Bone Show approaches, now is the time to start planning your day, especially if you intend to take part in some of the competitions.

Competitions
There are various awards and competitions your pooch could enter to add to the fun and enjoyment of your day.

Wag & Bone Awards
These annual awards are for dogs or people that sum up different aspects of how amazing the dog-human relationship can be. These awards are free to enter or to put forward a nomination.

There are 12 categories of award:
  1. Best all-round re-homed family dog
  2. Triumph over adversity
  3. A lifetime of care
  4. Most beautiful rescue dog
  5. The one no one else wanted
  6. Canine ambassador
  7. Life-saver
  8. Career rescue dog
  9. Best friends reunited
  10. Best long-distance rescue
  11. Priceless
  12. OK9

Top Dog
Top Dog is the biggest fun dog show ever. Approaching something in the region of 3,000 dogs are likely to compete for the coveted title of Top Dog. If you enter in advance, the price for entry in up to 6 classes is £10. Advanced entries for Top Dog close on 22 July.

There are 11 Top Dog categories to choose from:

  1. Waggiest
  2. Loveable rogue
  3. Handsomest dog
  4. Prettiest bitch
  5. Seven and up
  6. Shining Example
  7. Best doggie family
  8. Second chance at happiness – boys
  9. Second chance at happiness – girls
  10. Melting expression
  11. Best six legs

Heelwork to music
Canine dancing is great fun to watch and to take part in. And if you fancy having a go at canine dancing, there are some free heelwork to music dance classes taking place. The dance classes do not have to be pre-booked but entry to the heelwork to music competition is by advanced entry only.

There are 4 classes to enter, suiting all ages and experience:

  1. Under 18s
  2. Debut Dancers
  3. Novices
  4. High flyers

Pup Idol
Does your dog have a special talent that could woo the crowd? The sky’s the limit for this one. Past contestants have been anything from skateboarding to a dog doing a striptease. This event is one of the highlights of the Wag and Bone Show and is free to enter. With 2 minutes to entertain the crowd, what could your pooch do?

Look-alikes
This year there will be 2 categories:

  1. Natural look-alikes
  2. Augmented

So, even if you do not naturally look like your dog, could a bit of face paint or maybe even a costume transform you into your canine companion? No dressing up the dogs though, please.

Book in advance
If you book in advance you will be able to simply walk up to your allotted ring, show your pass and take part. No fuss, no waiting. Booking in advance will also save you money and don’t forget that it’s all in aid of some very good causes – so what are you waiting for!

Don’t forget to buy your own entry ticket to the Wag and Bone Show as well. Again, advanced ticket purchase is cheaper than buying on the day. You can buy your tickets by calling 0870 272 7374 or by visiting www.thewagandboneshow.co.uk/sales.html
