Take Your Dog to Work Day 2005
Take Your Dog to Work Day 2005

Take Your Dog to Work Day is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year. The date for your diary is Tuesday 20th September 2005.

The event, organised by The Blue Cross and sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, is still one of the most popular events in the canine calendar. Canines can lend a paw by joining the rat race for a day.

Even if you are not usually able to take your pooch to work with you, making an effort on this one special day will mean you both have fun and of course help raise money for animals in need.

The Blue Cross says “By registering to take part in this event you can help us with our work caring for sick and unwanted animals at our adoption centres and animal hospitals across the country.”

The event also helps promote awareness of the benefits of pet companionship. Dogs can have such a positive effect on the mental and physical well-being of those around them. At the same time, the dog benefits from not being home-alone, which can lead to dogs feeling sad, anxious and lonely. Your pooch will also learn to be sociable and this time together is likely to increase your dog's bond with you. So what are you waiting for!

And it’s not just us mere mortals who take part.

“Every year, celebrity dog owners including presenter Johnny Vaughan, Jamiroquai front man, Jay Kay, William Roache MBE, Jenny Seagrove, Martin Clunes and Amanda Holden join thousands of others to take part in the charity event.”

If you are taking part, don’t forget to bring your dog’s bedding and some toys so that they are occupied and feel at home. Their water bowl is another essential.
