Day of the Dog (IDOD) is an annual day devoted to man’s best
friend. This year is the first and occurs on Sunday 30th April 2006.
On this day dog owners can organise a dog show, a walk or other
doggie event, meet up with friends and their dogs, play games with
their dogs, or take them on a new and interesting walk - the list
is endless. Even non-dog owners can join in by donating some time
helping out at a local rescue centre or walking the dog of an elderly
neighbour. There is something everyone can do to join in.
Each year a specific theme will be chosen. Each year’s campaign
will be something that benefits dogs and their owners.
"This first year's theme is anti-bullying. We are promoting
the idea that no dog or owner should ever be bullied into doing
something they are not happy about, so IDOD will be a positive,
fun time for all, human and canine" says Jan Fennell.
