Walk
a Dog to School Day
18th October 2006 |
Walk a Dog to School Day is an annual event organised by Battersea
Dogs and Cats Home to raise funds for the charity. Across the UK,
parents, children and teachers are encouraged to get out in the
fresh air with their dogs and help raise funds for the charity.
As well as raising much needed funds for Battersea Dogs’ Home,
the event emphasises the many benefits of dog walking such as general
health and fitness and helping to reduce stress. It will also have
the positive effect of increasing people’s awareness of responsible
dog ownership, encouraging interaction with dogs and involving UK
schools in a worthwhile activity.
This fun event
involves you walking a dog to school on the 18th October 2006 and
asking all your friends and family to sponsor you. Battersea
Dogs and Cats Home
will send you all the materials you need, including board games,
a money box, sponsor forms, stickers and lots of other Battersea
Dogs & Cats Home goodies to help you raise money and have fun!
Even
if you don't have a dog you can still take part, you could ask friends
or relatives if you could walk their dog instead. If you dont know
anyone with a dog them you could dress up as a dog or take your
favourite cuddly toy to school with you.
Calendar
The National Walk a Dog to School Day takes place on Wednesday 18th
October 2006 in all areas of the UK.
