The Cold Wet Nose Show 2008

Get your diary out and mark 12th July 2008 with a huge big tick. You are all invited to a party where your dog will be the star.

The Cold Wet Nose show promises to give you the most fun a dog and his family can have all year. Brought to you by the creators of the Wag & Bone show, the Cold Wet Nose show promises to be the event of the summer.

The Cold Wet Nose Show
Saturday 12th July 2008

Loseley Park, Guildford, Surrey

9am - 6pm

www.thecoldwetnoseshow.co.uk

The Cold Wet Nose Show is a positive celebration of dogs, reminding the public of all the great things that our best friends do for us. The ethos of the show is to remind people how wonderful dogs can be while throwing the most wonderful doggie party where pet dogs can be the star.

The show aims to raise funds for dog-related charities that really need and appreciate every penny raised, and smaller charities are invited to apply for funding, too. Click here to apply for funding.

The Cold Wet Nose Show
Beverley Cuddy, Editor of Dogs Today magazine, says "One of the unique features of The Cold Wet Nose Show is that it will be a funds and profile raiser for some wonderful, smaller dog-related charities that really need the money and the exposure. Canine Partners, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Support Dogs (who train the epilepsy alert dogs) and Tailwaggers Trust (Who help pet owners with unexpected large vet bills) are the first four charities on board. Others will follow shortly including an amazing new charity that trains bio-detection dogs to signal early stage cancer and also monitor insulin levels in diabetics."

There will be loads of fun to be had at the event and things your dog can take part in. Here are just some of the competitions and awards planned:

Dog Brain of Britain
Can your dog run rings around you - literally or figuratively? Can your dog do something entertaining, surprising or just brilliant? Intelligence is all relative. Extra marks will be awarded for irony as well as obvious genius!

You will have two minutes to show off how remarkable your dog is. You can use props, enact a story, use music, do a single trick or a whole act. Your entry can involve just one dog or several. Singing, dancing, talking, skateboarding, skipping, mind-reading, extraordinary scenting ability, understanding the most number of commands... use your imagination to entertain the panel of judges and the crowds.

Top Dog
This will be a huge fun dog show that you can enter online in advance or come along on the day and just take a chance on there being a class left you can enter. The categories include Waggiest, Loveable Rogue, Handsomest Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Vintage, Shining Example, Best Doggie Family, Melting Expression, Best Six Legs (go on - dress up!), and Ear Ear (for dogs with gorgeous aural appendages). Pedigree is no advantage and beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Look-alikes
Whether you naturally look like your dog or you have to put in a bit of effort, this fun competition could be the one for you. This is the category that the media love
the most. Take a long look in the mirror and try to find how you can catch the judge's eye. Remember it's likely to be a warm day, so no dressing up the dog and getting him all hot and bothered. But you can dress up to your hearts content.

The Cold Wet Nose Awards
There will be some extra-special awards to people and dogs that have done something remarkable. Do you know someone or some dog you think deserves a massive pat on the back? Perhaps someone who works so hard for dogs that they deserve a special day out; someone who needs celebrating because of an innovation or for long service; a special dog that has changed someone’s life; a dog that could change people's perceptions of a maligned breed; or just someone who has had a dreadful year and has given up so much for the love of their dogs that they need a bit of a cheer up.
