If you were involved in an accident or became suddenly ill and
couldn’t return home to your pets or communicate that you
were a pet owner and that your pets needed help – what would
happen to them?
A
new service called Rescue My Pet gives a voice to stranded pets.
Rescue My Pet will identify you as a pet owner in emergencies
and will ensure that your pets are not forgotten or stranded if
you are unable to return home to them.
When
you register for the service you receive a wallet sized 'In
Case of Emergency' card and a key fob with an ID number on
that is unique to you and your pets.
When Rescue My Pet are notified that your pet needs help they
contact your nominated carers and monitor the situation until
they are happy that your pets are being cared for as designated
by you. |

If you are on holiday and your dog is away from home with a petsitter,
at kennels, or with you at the holiday cottage you can keep your
details up to date by logging on and entering the temporary information.
Rescue My Pet can also hold details of medication requirements,
veterinarian and long term care wishes should the worst happen
to you. Up to 10 pets details from each household can be registered
on the same ID card.
Founder Fiona Black says “Like many other people, my
dog means the world to me and totally relies on me to return home
to care for him. If, for whatever reason, I was not able to do
this then I wanted there to be something in place that would ensure
help got to him as soon as possible with people I could trust.
There have been cases of dogs being stranded for days following
their owners involvement in an accident. It really is a voice
for pets and peace of mind for owners”.
Rescue My Pet makes a donation to animal charities for every subscription
taken which starts at £12.00 per year. The telephone line
is monitored 24/7, 365 days a year.
