Poop Scoop Week is a Dogs Trust
initiative that takes place every year in conjunction with Local
Authorities across the UK and Ireland.
Every year, Dogs Trust urges dog owners to pick up after their
dog and help clean up our public spaces. While the majority of
dog owners are responsible and pick up after their dog, a careless
few are still giving dogs a bad name.
| Each
year thousands of complaints are received by local authorities
about dog mess. In fact, MPs in Britain receive more complaints
about dog fouling than any other issue!
Dogs Trust – the UK’s largest dog welfare charity
– is urging
all dog owners to be responsible and where possible to
‘Grab it, Bag it, Bin it’ during National Poop
Scoop Week, which takes place every year in June.
Cleaning up after your dog is simple and the only way of
ensuring a summer free from the nuisance of pooch poop. |
|
The message is clear - Grab it, bag it
and bin it
Grab It
Always keep a supply of plastic bags near your dog's lead - supermarket
carrier bags make great poop scoops - so you don't forget to take
a poop scoop with you on every walk. Simply insert your hand in
the plastic bag and pick up your dogs waste. It's easy and not
as bad as you think.
Bag It
Carefully turn the plastic bag inside out and your dogs mess will
then be 'bagged'.
Bin It
Dispose of your bag in a 'Poop' bin. Contrary to popular belief,
dog waste can also be put into a public litter bin if a specific
dog waste bin is not provided.
